Abstract Self?cleaning and repellent coatings ensure enduring performance of surfaces in many areas technology everyday life. An ideal coating is efficient removing contaminations, yet easy to apply on a wide range surface materials. To devise such coating, two bioinspirations are combined that show opposing interfacial properties: the peristome pitcher plant versatile mussel?inspired chemistry polydopamine (PDA). The possibility PDA bind different materials taken provide material?independent strategy. Its reactivity toward amines cofunctionalize with monoaminopropyl?polydimethylsiloxane utilized control chemistry. This process, effect, adheres silicone polymer chains any desired material. Finally, inert oil added reaction mixture situ lubrication coating. Together, process creates lubricant?infused one?step independent underlying substrate.
